Abstract Automated Fibre Placement is a common manufacturing technique for composite parts in the aero-space industry. Therefore, visual part inspection required which often covers up to 50% of actual production time. Moreover, quality this manual step fluctuates significantly. A camera-based automated inline capable increasing efficiency and accuracy. However, interpretability acquired data strongly depends on sensor configuration inspected material. Thus, paper introduces methods modelling assessing an imaging example material reflecting spot laser camera sensor. In context, reflection properties are incorporated into simulation validated comparison real images from experimental setup.
